Managing Observers: A Guide for Election Workers
This brief course discusses what observation is and how to establish shared expectations between observers and election officials. We will cover opportunities for observation during the pre-election period, on Election Day, and after the election while providing tips and ideas for communicating with observers and the public throughout the election process.

About This Course
Public observation is an important part of administering elections. To have confidence in election administration, the public must have a strong idea of how elections are administered and what safeguards are in place to protect the integrity of our elections. By the end of this course learners should be able to:
- Understand and explain the role that observers play in the election process.
- Understand the boundaries of good faith observation and be able to recognize when boundaries are crossed.
- Apply the skills for successfully and professionally performing your job duties while being observed.
